ZAYAZD na pokladzie STEFANA BATOREGO
ZAYAZD is a name of the Polish country-folk rock music group.
In 1986, Lech Makowiecki the leader of the former country music group "Babsztyl", chose that name for his new music formation.
In 1987-88, ZAYAZD performed on aboard of STEFAN BATORY during it's three cruises: Dakar, Norwegian Fiords and the last one in Caribbean. During that last cruise in Caribbean,
Lech Makowiecki, wrote and sang as a first time, the song "Czas Batorych" ("Batory's Time"). The song has became a very special farewell to the ship by her passengers, crew and ZAYAZD... Makowiecki recalls: "There were lot of tears in the audience, while we were singing "Czas Batorych" in the last concert on aboard of "Stefek". Everybody knew, that the ship will be sent to the scrap yard very soon".
ZAYAZD to nazwa polskiego zespolu muzyki country-folk rocka.
W 1986 r Lech Makowiecki, lider bylego zespolu studenckiego "Babsztyl", tak wlasnie nazwal swoja nowopowstala formacje muzyczna. W 1987-88 ZAYAZD wystepowal na pokladzie STEFANA BATOREGO podczas trzech rejsow wycieczkowych: Dakar, Fjordy Norweskie i  Karaiby. W trakcie rejsu na Karaiby, ktory byl ostatnim rejsem S. BATOREGO,  Lech Makowiecki napisal
i wykonal po raz pierwszy piosenke "Czas Batorych", ktora stala sie dla pasazerow, zalogi i calego zaspolu ZAYAZD ostatecznym pozegnaniem ze statkiem, na ktorym podrozowali..."Lzy, o ktorych jest mowa w piosence widac bylo w niejednych oczach, gdy spiewalismy "Czas Batorych" na ostatnim
koncercie"- wspomina Makowiecki.

ZAYAZD is still very popular among their fans. The group has taped TV shows for TVP 2, TV Gdansk,
TV Katowice and Polsat. One of the many awards which ZAYAZD received is Zlota Plyta (Golden Record) of the major Polish records producer "Polskie Nagrania". In June 1999, the best vocalists from cities Gdansk, Gdynia, Sopot, sang jointly the magnificent song "Wielka Radosc" ("The Great Joy") by Lech Makowiecki to welcome the Pope John Paul II pilgriming to the Northern Poland...
ZAYAZD cieszy sie nadal popularnoscia wsrod swoich fanow... Zespol nagral programy telewizyjne dla TVP 2, TV Gdansk, TV Katowice, Polsatu. Wsrod u nagrod jest miedzy innymi Zlota Plyta Polskich Nagran. W czerwcu 1999, najlepsi wykonawcy z Trojmiasta (Gdynia, Gdansk, Sopot), hymnem "Wielka Radosc" autorstwa L. Makowieckiego, witali w Sopocie Papieza Jana Pawla II...

ZAYAZD has performed on the stage of  the Amphitheatre in Mragowo (Northern Poland) many times. This is the traditional place of the Polish Country Music Festival - "Picnic Country" each year. ZAYAZD's songs and music have always brought special attention from the audience and critics .

"... All artists who were hired on the last STEFAN BATORY's voyage, including ourselves were participated in the STEFAN BATORY SHOW. Every night, we presented diffrerent type and style of music... there was  The American Day (country and western), Russian-Gipsy Day (romanse), Jewish Day ("Fiddler on the roof"), Operetta Day
(Kalman Invites), Polish Day (folk dance and music) etc. For all of us it was a great chalenge and lots, lots work, but... I have never expierienced such a great audience aplause as the one on the STEFAN BATORY.
Apart from that... giving show when the storm is 7 degree in Beaufort's scale and one has to keep balance on the small stage with the support of his own guitar only was quite fun." (L.Makowiecki)
